Defunct drainage system irks SR Gung residents
Srinagar, May 15: With authorities failing to restore the defunct drainage system at SR Gunj area, residents are facing inconvenience.
The aggrieved residents said that amid drainage blockage, drainage water overflows onto the road, hampering their movement. The locals said that multiple manholes are blocked in the area, which has turned the locality into a cesspool.
“Authorities should take action in this matter. There are various eateries and other shops in the area, and they should also show civic sense and ensure that nothing is dumped into the drains as it creates frequent blockages of the drainage network,” said an aggrieved.
The locals said that the foul smell emanating from these manholes has created an inconvenience to them. They said that the pedestrians and commuters walking in the area are also facing issues.
“This can lead to an outbreak of waterborne diseases if the issue is not tackled. We often face these issues, and concrete measures are needed to end them once and for all,” said another local.
