Defunct drainage system irks Sopore residents

Sopore, Mar 31: The residents of Mohallah Gousia Noorbagh area in Sopore town of Baramulla district are up in arms against the administration for failing to repair the defunct drainage system in the area.

The aggrieved residents said that the drainage system in their area has been dysfunctional since last one year and has resulted in immense inconveniences to them with no intervention from the concerned department.

"We are facing huge inconveniences due to the defunct drainage system in our area. It is adding to our woes,” said locals.

"Just a few hours of rain causes waterlogging in the area.The defunct drainage conditions in the area speaks of the laxity of the authorities," Danish Ahmad Pandith, one of the local residents, said.

He said that they have approached the concerned authorities several times to restore it but unfortunately nothing is being done on ground level.

The inhabitants urged higher authorities to look into the issue as soon as possible and redress their problems at the earliest.
