Defence and security cooperation has since emerged as a vital pillar of the bilateral relationship.

In recent years, defence ties between the two nations have grown stronger, driven by increasing convergence on strategic issues and a shared commitment to peace, stability, and a free and open Indo-Pacific. Both sides have deepened military exchanges and joint exercises, reflecting mutual trust and shared security interests. The upcoming meeting will mark the second interaction between the two Defence Ministers in less than six months. Their first meeting took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus in Laos in November 2024. allenges.
