Deeply saddened by killing of doctor, 6 workers at Gagangeer: KCCI
Srinagar, Oct 21: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has expressed shock and outrage over the unfortunate killing of a doctor and six other personnel engaged by a construction company working on a tunnel project at Gagangeer, Sonamarg.
In a strongly worded statement, the KCCI condemned the attack, stating that the killing of these innocent persons is aimed at "vitiating the peace and tranquillity in Jammu & Kashmir."
"We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident. These were hardworking individuals engaged in an important infrastructure project for the region," Javed Tenga , President of the KCCI. "The government must order a high-level inquiry to investigate this attack and ensure those responsible are brought to justice."
The KCCI has also called on the authorities to "fix liability for the lack of adequate security measures" to protect the personnel working on the construction project.
"This prestigious project was meant to boost connectivity and economic development in the region. The killing of these innocent people is a direct attack on these efforts," added Tenga.
"The KCCI stands in solidarity with the families of the victims and demands that the government take swift and decisive action to prevent such incidents from happening again."
