Srinagar, Sept 23: Over 270 people have been killed including women and children even as over 1000 people were wounded as Israel carried out its deadliest strikes on Lebanon on Monday.

The intense strikes on Monday follow sabotage attacks on Lebanon where thousands of Beepers and radio devices exploded with the country blaming Israel for the attack. The attack targeted an extraordinary number of people, AP reported.

The health ministry said Israeli strikes on the south and east killed 274 people and wounded more than 1024 people, in the worst toll by far in nearly a year of cross-border clashes between Hezbollah and Israel.

Hezbollah's deputy leader Naim Kassem said yesterday that they are now in an 'open-ended battle' with Israel.

Kassem's statement came hours after Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu threatened that he will attack "in ways Hezbollah could not have imagined."

Israeli warplanes on Monday targeted several southern towns for the first time since October 7 when it launched its genocidal war against the besieged Gaza Strip.

"Israeli enemy strikes on southern towns and villages since this morning" have killed "182 people and wounded 727 others with casualties including children, women, and paramedics", the health ministry of Lebanon said.
