DC Doda reviews preparations for 6th National Rafting Championship in Doda

Doda, Feb 17: Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess and finalize preparations for the upcoming 6th National Rafting Championship, scheduled to be held at Shibnote (Thathri) in Doda district from February 19 to 22, 2026.

The rafting championship, as per an official statement, is being organised by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the District Administration Doda, aiming to promote adventure tourism and showcase the district's immense potential as a premier destination for water sports.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed arrangements related to logistics, safety measures, accommodation, transportation, medical facilities, security deployment, traffic regulation and overall event coordination to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the championship.

The meeting was attended by the DDC Councillor Thathri, SE PHE, CEO BDA, CPO, ACR, SDM Thathri, AD Tourism Batote, DIO Doda, Dy SP, Dy SP Traffic, representatives of participating rafting teams and other concerned stakeholders.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all officers to work in close coordination and ensure foolproof arrangements well in advance. He stressed the importance of maintaining strict safety protocols, proper crowd management and effective coordination among departments to facilitate a secure and well-organised event.

He also emphasised providing adequate facilities for participating teams and visitors to promote a positive experience.

Highlighting the tourism potential of the district, the Deputy Commissioner noted that the championship will significantly contribute to promoting adventure tourism and enhancing the visibility of Doda at the national level.
