DC Anantnag inaugurates pulse polio programme for children of migrant labourers

Anantnag, Mar 3: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid Sunday inaugurated the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) Programme, 2024, for the children of migrant labourers at Pazalpora Bijbehara, in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

An official spokesman in a statement issued here said that the DC started the campaign by administering oral anti-polio vaccine drops to the newly-born infants in the presence of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag and other medical staff.

CMO Anantnag, Dr M Y Zagoo on the occasion informed the DC that 1,43,554 children in the age group of 0-5 years would be administered pulse polio drops in the district.

He said that 673 pulse polio booths had been set up in the district, besides, 18 transit booths had also been established for the effective and successful implementation of the programme.

The DC was informed that the Health Department Anantnag had deployed 2692 workers in the district including the Anganwari workers, education workers, ASHAs and health workers for proper monitoring of the campaign.
