Dagger Parivaar School celebrates 2nd annual day

Baramulla, Nov 1: The Dagger Parivaar School, established by the Indrani Balan Foundation in collaboration with the Chinar Corps, celebrated its second annual day on Wednesday here. The school, which is a haven for specially-abled children in Baramulla, marked this milestone with an event that showcased the incredible progress and potential of its students.

Dagger Parivaar School, founded on October 20, 2021, is a unique initiative that caters to the needs of 103 specially-abled children who grapple with various medical conditions. The school’s mission is to provide these children with a nurturing environment where they can receive the care, education, and opportunities they deserve.

The annual day event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including the GOC (General Officer Commanding) of the 19 Infantry Division. Additionally, officers from civil administration, army personnel, and the parents of the children were also present to show their support.

The students of Dagger Parivaar School displayed their talents with various cultural events and dance performances that captivated the audience. These performances were a testament to the resilience and potential of these specially-abled children.

In his address, Major General Rajesh Sethi, GoC 19 Infantry Division, reiterated the commitment of the Army and the Indrani Balan Foundation to enhance the school’s infrastructure. “Our goal is to enable more specially-abled children to access the opportunities offered by the school,” he said.

Major General Sethi emphasised the importance of integrating these students into mainstream educational institutions, ensuring they receive the facilities they need to thrive.

Punit Balan representing the NGO highlighted the school’s primary objective, which is to empower gifted children with the means to reshape their world. He echoed the sentiment that specially-abled students should be seamlessly integrated into mainstream educational institutions.

“The hard work and dedication of the teachers and management have borne fruit as eight children from Dagger Parivaar School have already been admitted to various government and private schools, proving that with the right support, these children can excel,” he said.

Janhavi Dhariwal Balan, the founder of the Indrani Balan Foundation, spoke to the media about the foundation’s broader mission. She revealed that the foundation has collaborated with the Army to establish 11 such schools dedicated to the care and development of specially-abled children.

“Our vision is to provide these children with numerous opportunities to showcase their unique abilities and talents,” she said.

Parents of the specially-abled children praised the efforts of the Army and the Indrani Balan Foundation. They acknowledged the challenges of raising children with special needs but expressed their renewed hope and optimism while witnessing their children being groomed under safe hands.
