Cyber Police recover over `13.6 lakh in Kulgam online fraud cases

Srinagar, Jan 11: The Cyber Cell of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kulgam has successfully recovered `13,69,377 from multiple online financial fraud cases, protecting victims who were targeted through fake investment schemes.

Police in a statement said that the scammers had lured victims with promises of high returns, encouraging them to make additional deposits into fraudulent investment platforms. After receiving multiple complaints, the Cyber Police Kulgam swiftly gathered evidence and employed advanced cyber tracking methods to freeze the suspicious transactions.

Through prompt intervention, authorities managed to recover the entire amount of `13,69,377, which has been credited back to the victims' accounts.

The police have urged the public to remain vigilant against online scams and suspicious activities. Citizens are advised to avoid clicking on suspicious links, responding to fake credit SMS messages, and installing unauthorized applications. Additional precautions include exercising caution during video calls from unknown numbers and never sharing sensitive personal or financial information online.
