Srinagar, July 20: In a significant move to curb the spread of sectarian and inflammatory content on social media, the Cyber Police Kashmir has taken cognisance of several instances of such posts being shared online.

The official social media handle @Cyberpolicekmr has issued an urgent appeal to social media users, urging them to refrain from sharing any content that could disrupt communal harmony and peace in the region.

The Cyber Police emphasized the importance of maintaining a respectful and harmonious digital space. The police have highlighted that the dissemination of sectarian content not only exacerbates communal tensions but also violates cyber laws, leading to strict legal consequences for offenders.

In series of posts on X, Cyber Police Kashmir said; “?? Attention, Social Media Users: @Cyberpolicekmr has taken cognisance of some sectarian/inflammatory content being shared online. @JmuKmrPolice @KashmirPolice @DIGCKRSGR @SrinagarPolice @IftkharTalib,” Cyber Police Kashmir said in a post.

“Cyberpskmr urge everyone to refrain from sharing such content. Let’s work together to maintain harmony and peace. Your cooperation is essential. #CyberSafety #OnlineHarmony,” it said in another post.

“?? *Important Reminder:* Sharing content that violates cyber laws will lead to strict legal action. Cyber Police Kashmir is committed to ensuring our digital space remains safe and respectful for everyone. #StaySafeOnline #CyberAwareness #RespectAndResponsibility,” Cyber Police Kashmir warned.

The police have also reassured the public of their commitment to cyber safety and the enforcement of laws designed to protect the digital space. The emphasis on legal action serves as a deterrent to those who might consider using social media to spread harmful content.

The appeal by the Cyber Police Kashmir marks a proactive step towards ensuring that social media remains a space for constructive dialogue rather than division.
