Cyber Police Ganderbal crack financial frauds, recover lost phones
Ganderbal, Nov 14: The Cyber Police cell Ganderbal has successfully recovered and returned 68 mobile phones, that were stolen or lost, worth lakhs of rupees to their rightful owners.
Besides, the cyber cell team has solved many financial scam cases in the current year. Addressing media persons here, Additional Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Aijaz Ahmed Malik said dedicated technical team of the Cyber Police cell in Ganderbal has been relentless in their efforts, successfully tracing 68 missing mobile phones of various makes and models worth lakhs of rupees. These devices have been returned to their rightful owners, the official said. “ During the current year 2024, Cyber Cell Ganderbal recovered 68 Missing/Stolen Mobile-Phones worth lakhs of rupees and solved huge online money/financial scam frauds,” ASP said.
“ In order to extend the services to the general public and to redress their grievances, Cyber Cell Ganderbal received applications/reports from the general public about missing/stolen mobile phones during the current year. Further, a special and dedicated team of Cyber Cell Ganderbal lead by SI Gowhar Nazir under the supervision of Addl. SP Ganderbal Aijaz Malik recovered 68 mobile phones from different places which were either lost or stolen. 50 mobile phones were handed over to their legal owners and remaining 18 mobile phones are being handed over today to their legal owners” police officials said.
Moreover, Cyber Cell Ganderbal solved huge online financial fraud cases in which an amount of Rs 163449 was recovered and has been refunded to the victim’s account and amount of Rs1145669 was put on hold on receipt of various complaints.
Talking about social media cases, Cyber Cell Ganderbal resolved more than 44 cases regarding blackmailing and social media account hackings. Cyber Cell Ganderbal requested the general public to use their mobile phones and other electronic gadgets with precaution to safeguard themselves from cyber related frauds and crimes.
