The X-Ray unit had become defunct, reportedly just after 10 days of its launch. The facility, the only one of its kind in Kashmir, has been lauded by animal owners and animal welfare organizations.

Dr Gilani said people seeking diagnosis and treatment for their animals at the hospital are now welcome to avail the facility. He said the hospital administration had worked hard to get the repair done on the X ray unit which had developed a snag very soon after it was started in February this year.

The lack of X Ray facility had been lamented by people seeking treatment for their sick and injured livestock, pets and organizations working for animal welfare.

However, the non-availability of many biochemistry tests at the hospital is a critical area that needs to be addressed. Many people visiting this hospital for basic tests of animals said the tests were not being carried out at the hospital as the reagents had exhausted. However, MS CVH Dr Gilani did not respond to this query.

The X Ray unit was inaugurated on 27 February by Ahsan Pardesi, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Lal Chowk, alongside officers including Dr. Parvinder Singh Sudan, Director of Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir and Dr Gilani, Superintendent of the Hospital.
