CUS pays tributes to Prof Qureshi
Srinagar, Nov 18: Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) office bearers led by Vice-Chancellor, Prof Muhammad Mobin paid rich tributes to Prof Abdul Wahid Qureshi who passed away on Sunday.
A statement of CUS issued here said that in a condolence meeting held at the Gogji Bagh campus of the varsity, Prof Mobin said he was deeply saddened by the passing of Prof Qureshi who besides being an eminent economist served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir and the founding Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir (CUK).
“Prof Qureshi was an exceptional academic leader who contributed significantly to the higher education sector of the region. Throughout his illustrious career, he demonstrated unwavering dedication to education and public service. His remarkable achievements as an economist and academic administrator are truly inspiring,” Prof Mobin said.
“As we mourn the loss of this visionary leader, we take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. May his contributions to the world of economics and education continue to inspire future generations,” he said.
The condolence meeting was attended by Dean of Academics Affairs, Prof Yasmeen Ashai; Registrar Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi; Controller of Examinations Khurshid Ahmad Mir; Deans of various schools Dr Naseer Hussain Shah (Sciences), G M Lone (Commerce and Management), Deeba Iqbal (Humanities and Liberal Arts), Nazir Ahmad Kotey (Social Sciences) and Munir Ahmad Mir (Teacher Education).
