Srinagar, June 19: As a runup to the Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti, a vibrant celebration of India's rich cultural heritage unfolded on 19 June at Zorawar Hall at Pattan.

Organised by the Indian Army and North Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the cultural festival showcased the diverse culture of India. Renowned artists from Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat, Odisha, Manipur and Kashmir graced the stage with mesmerising performances, highlighting the essence of cultural diversity.

The festival also featured soulful renditions of traditional songs, symbolising India's unity in diversity and mystic significance. Local artists embraced the event with a spirited performance, followed by folk performances that captivated the audience.

Beyond entertainment, the cultural festival had a broader objective of celebrating the spirit of tradition, culture, heritage and diversity of the country. It was aimed to preserve, promote and popularise the heritage of the Indian spirit and reconnect the new generation with "our culture, fostering a sense of pride and belonging."

The cultural festival received widespread acclaim and was attended by teachers, students and civil dignitaries of north Kashmir. A total of 300 youth from north Kashmir attended the event. The contingent thanked the Indian Army for the conduct of the event.
