Ganderbal, Mar 8: The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) marked the culmination of International Women’s Day-2025 celebrations with a thought-provoking webinar, bringing together distinguished academicians and administrators to celebrate the achievements and resilience of women across generations.

In his inaugural address, Vice Chancellor Prof A Ravinder Nath paid rich tributes to the determined spirits of Sarojini Naidu, the “Nightingale of India,” who played a pivotal role in advocating for women’s empowerment.
Reflecting on her legacy, he said, “Sarojini Naidu defied societal norms and emerged as a strong voice for Indian women. At a time when women’s voices were often subdued by rigid patriarchal structures, she stood tall, championing their rights and paving the way for their active participation in governance, politics, and social reform.”

He added that her leadership not only strengthened India’s freedom struggle but also laid the foundation for the progress women have made today.” Prof Nath further emphasised that empowering women is not merely a responsibility but an absolute necessity for a just and progressive society. “With platforms like these, we continue to foster a dialogue that drives the momentum towards gender equality. The CUKashmir remains committed to nurturing women’s academic and professional growth, encouraging them to lead and shape a more equitable future,” he asserted. He urged participants to work collectively towards a society that upholds gender equality, economic independence, and broader representation for women in all spheres.
