CUK holds guest lecture
Ganderbal, Nov 16: The Department of Information Technology, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), Saturday organised an online guest lecture on “Beyond Books: What Else to Do During My CSE Degree”?.
The session was aimed to inspire computer science and engineering (CSE) students to broaden their horizons beyond traditional academics and unlock their full potential.
Guest speaker, Er Tawheed Manzoor, a Technology Product Leader at Genpact, Boston, USA, introduced the “Do, Learn, and Connect” methodology, emphasising its relevance in shaping a successful career. He elaborated on each aspect: Do: Encouraging students to work on practical projects, internships, and hands-on experiences, Learn: Emphasizing continuous learning through online resources, certifications, and exploring emerging technologies and Connect: Highlighting the importance of networking with industry professionals, joining tech communities, and collaborating with peers. He emphasised that combining practical learning with continuous education in emerging technologies is essential for students to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving tech industry.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof A Ravinder Nath, conveyed his appreciation for this initiative and emphasised the role of such events in bridging the gap between academic learning and professional success. He lauded the department for organising the session.
In his message, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Shahid Rasool, conveyed the importance of integrating experiential learning and professional networking into academic pursuits and encouraged students to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the university.
Earlier, Prof M Yousuf, Dean School of Engineering and Technology, addressed the audience, motivating them to take advantage of opportunities provided by the department and strive for excellence.
In his opening remarks, Dr Yash Paul, Coordinator of the Department, introduced the theme and underscored the importance of holistic development during a student’s academic journey. He also welcomed Er Tawheed Manzoor.
Faculty members, Dr Zahoor Ahmad and Dr Shahid Sultan, were also present. Sr Assistant Prof Afaq Alam Khan, proposed the vote of thanks.
