Ganderbal, Sep 19: Departments of Commerce and Tourism Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), organised an investment awareness programme “Investment Opportunities and Role of NSDL in India” at varsity’s, Green Campus here Friday.

The session was attended by the faculty and students of both departments. Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Puri, Assistant Manager, NSDL discussed the role of NSDL and investment opportunities in India. He enlightened the audience about the scams and frauds that are frequently taking place with common people through various fraudulent agencies on social media platforms. He sensitised the participants not to fall prey to such scams and advised them to verify and examine all such calls, offers carefully and not to fall into such investment practices blindly.

Earlier, Dr Mehraj ud Din Shah, HoD Commerce, in his address highlighted the importance of investment for economic progress, especially in the existing business environment.

He said the Commerce Deptt is on the forefront to provide knowledge and information to its students and society that can help them contribute to their economic improvement and overall development of the country. He thanked the administration, particularly Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath for providing support to organise such events.

Highlighting the significance of such programmes, Dr. Ashiq Najar, Co-coordinator, Deptt of Tourism Studies, said such events are essential to minimize the chance of investment-related scams that are consistently taking place.

The lecture was followed by a question-and-answer session. Dr. Asif Jeelani Khan conducted the proceedings and Dr Rizwana Rafiq proposed the vote of thanks.
