Ganderbal, Nov 7: The two-day mini innovation boot camp and workshop organised by the Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) began at varsity’s Tulmulla campus here Thursday.

Addressing the participants, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof ARavinder Nath, for his guidance and encouragement.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Prof Shahid talked about the idea of patenting and the four stages involved in the process of patenting the product. He talked about the importance of innovation in “teaching pedagogy at the university level in the light of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.” He further encouraged the participants to actively engage in the workshop and come up with some tangible outcome.

In his speech, Dean, School of Physical and Chemical Sciences, Prof Mohammad Yousuf, spoke about the importance of the innovation boot camp in the teaching, learning, and research for achieving academic accolades for the development of CUK.

Resource person, Dr Rahul Z More, from IIT Bombay and Oxford Alumnus, enlightened the participants on a variety of topics such as “building creative confidence and connecting the dots, shifting reference points through cross industry examples, breakthrough ideas v/s usual ideas, mindset gravity, etc.”

He engaged the attendees with various innovative and creative activities such as disappear the paper, completing the incomplete story to create a new mental model and change the way of looking at any problem and solutions and coming up with innovative solutions to real life problems.

Earlier, Dr Haribhau R Bhapkar (Programme Coordinator) Head Department of Mathematics explained the importance and objectives of the event and its expected outcomes. He said such workshops will help to build winning personalities of students “who are academically excellent, physically fit, intellectually sharp, mentally alert and spiritually elevated, one of the objectives of the NEP -2020.”

Dr John Babu Koyye, Sr Assistant Prof Department of Communication and Journalism expressed gratitude towards Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ravindra Nath and DAA, Dr Shahid Rasool for making the event possible. He also thanked Prof. Mohammad Yousuf for his support.

The session was attended by faculty members of various departments and scholars. Dr. Akhter Bhat, Assistant Prof. was the rapporteur.
