Ganderbal, Sep 15: The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) celebrated Engineers’ Day 2025 at its Tulmulla Campus, with the Department of Civil Engineering collaborating with the Department of Information Technology to host the event.

Vice Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, in his address, highlighted the critical role of engineers in nation-building. He underscored the interdependence of engineering and technology in driving societal progress and stressed the importance of practical, problem-solving education. “Engineers are not only builders of bridges and roads but also architects of sustainable societies. Students must combine technical excellence with social responsibility,” he said.

He noted that engineers are pivotal in addressing climate change and population pressures, ensuring sustainable development and disaster resilience.

In a keynote on “Emerging Technologies in Digital Business,” Prof. Chiranjeev Kumar, Head of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Dhanbad, highlighted the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Cloud Computing, and IoT. He also noted the convergence of engineering disciplines in modern times, breaking traditional boundaries between civil, IT, and computer engineering.

Dean of School of Legal Studies, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, urged students to emulate Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya’s dedication and discipline. “Engineering is about meeting humanity’s needs—clean water, affordable healthcare, sustainable energy, efficient transport, and digital inclusion,” he said.

The event began with opening remarks by IT Department Coordinator Dr. Yash Paul, who reflected on Sir Visvesvaraya’s life and contributions.
