CUK celebrates 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ song
Srinagar, Nov 7: The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) on Thursday joined the nationwide celebration marking 150 years of India’s national song, Vande Mataram.
The event, held at the university’s Tulmulla Campus, was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, with Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Shahid Rasool and other senior faculty members in attendance. Commemorative events were simultaneously organised across the university’s Green Campus, Arts Campus, and Sciences Campus Nuner.
The celebration was organised in response to a directive from the Ministry of Culture, which had called for nationwide observance of the Vande Mataram anniversary in alignment with the main event led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi. The highlight of the occasion was a live broadcast from New Delhi, allowing faculty, staff, and students of CUKashmir to participate virtually in the national celebration.
Students and faculty members from various disciplines attended the programme, which included reflections on the historical and cultural significance of Vande Mataram and its enduring legacy in India’s national consciousness.
