CSIR-IIIM, HAPICO Industries sign MoU for collaborative Biopesticide Development

Jammu, Mar 20: CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HAPICO Industries Private Limited to jointly develop novel biopesticides as an alternative to chemical pesticides.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director of CSIR-IIIM, and Mr. Shabeer Ahmed, Managing Director of HAPICO Industries, in the presence of senior scientists from the institute.

The strategic partnership aims to address the harmful effects of chemical pesticides on human health and the environment by leveraging the rich biodiversity of medicinal and aromatic plants for sustainable biopesticide solutions.

Dr Zabeer Ahmed emphasized CSIR-IIIM’s commitment to translational research and providing industrial applications for technologies developed through the collaboration, which will directly benefit farmers nationwide. He expressed confidence in meeting project objectives within the established timeline.

CSIR-IIIM brings to the partnership its advanced fermentation and microbial technology infrastructure, which has been instrumental in developing agricultural solutions including plant growth promoters and biocontrol formulations.
