He said that 2175 selections for the gazette posted had been made by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), while a total of 2390 posts were referred to the commission.

“A total of 1057 Class IV (MTS) vacancies were identified by various departments, which are under scrutiny for the concurrence of the Finance Department and will be referred to the recruiting agencies in due course of time,” the CM said.

Additionally, 6000 vacancies are ready for referral to the recruiting agencies.

CM Omar said that in an attempt to expedite the recruitment process, the government had done away with the process of interviews for all the posts up to and including Pay Level-5 (Rs 29,200-92300).

He said that the interviews for Level-6 posts including Naib Tehsildars (NTs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) had also been abolished.

Underlining the government’s efforts to improve transparency and efficiency in recruitment, the CM said, “To infuse vibrancy and ensure transparency in the recruitment for the post of non-gazetted and Class-IV (MTS) categories through JKSSB, the regulations have been revised and notified on November 22, 2022.”

He said that the revised regulations provided for the conduct of online examinations through CBT mode and the conduct of a single examination for various posts.

The JKPSC and the JKSSB have been directed to adopt a target-based approach and complete recruitment within a set time frame.

CM Omar said that the government plans to fill 1502 gazetted and 5751 non-gazetted vacancies by the year-end, including 150 junior engineer positions recently referred to the JKSSB.

“A total of 150 gazetted vacancies for assistant professors, librarians, and physical training instructors are under the process for referral to the government,” he said.

The CM said that of the 840 vacancies already referred, 476 had been filled and the selection process for the remaining 364 was going on.
