CRPF observes ‘Valour Day’ at Group Centre CRPF
Srinagar, Apr 9: In a solemn tribute to the CRPF personnel killed in 1965 War, the Group Centre CRPF Srinagar Wednesday observed ‘Valour Day’ with full reverence and military decorum.
A statement of CRPF issued here said that the occasion marked annually on April 9 commemorates the bravery of the 2nd Battalion of CRPF during the 1965 War at Sardar Post and Tonk Post in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.
The celebrations commenced with floral tributes paid at the ‘Shaheed Samarak’ where Additional Director General, CRPF, J&K Zone, Rajesh Kumar laid a wreath in memory of CRPF personnel killed in the line of duty.
Officers and personnel present stood in silence to honour them.
A ‘Sainik Sammelan’ was later organised to mark the occasion where Inspector General, CRPF, Srinagar Sector, Pawan Kumar Sharma felicitated the family of a CRPF personnel who was killed in the line of duty and honoured several officers and personnel for their distinguished service.
As a mark of respect and recognition, Dilshada Begum, wife of General Duty Constable Rafiq Ahmad Khan of 166 Bn, was felicitated with a shawl and bouquet.
DIG GC CRPF, Srinagar, Rajesh Kumar felicitated the winners of a volleyball match organised between GC CRPF Srinagar and Valley QAT.
