Srinagar, Jan 16: Young sportspersons from the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir delivered an impressive performance at the SQAY National Championship held here from January 5 to 7, winning eight gold, two silver and two bronze medals, officials said.

As per an official statement issued by CRPF on Friday, a 20-member contingent of boys and girls represented the district at the national event, with their participation and success supported under the CRPF Madadgaar Scheme of KOS Sector.

The initiative was undertaken under the able aegis and visionary leadership of IG Vineet Brijlal, IPS, whose commitment to youth empowerment and sports development continues to inspire positive change in conflict-affected regions.

As Shopian district falls under the jurisdiction of 14 Bn. CRPF, the young sportspersons received continuous encouragement, motivation, and mentorship from Commandant Mahashakti Upadhyay, 14 Bn.

CRPF, Beyond logistical and administrative support, the Commandant personally interacted with the participants, guiding them on career planning, discipline, and future opportunities in sports, and extended his blessings for their continued success.
