Srinagar, Sep 23: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday flagged off its first-ever all-women high-altitude motorcycle expedition from the heart of Srinagar, marking a leap towards empowering women in the armed forces.

The 9-day expedition, comprising 32 female bikers, was launched from the Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk by CRPF Director General G.P. Singh. Covering a grueling 1,400 km route, the bikers will journey from Srinagar to the majestic Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh and back—braving sub-zero temperatures, rugged terrain, and altitudes reaching 18,000 feet.

“I congratulate all the female bikers who are embarking on this challenging expedition from Kashmir to Ladakh. I also extend my best wishes to the people of Kashmir for their overwhelming support,” said DG G.P. Singh during the flag-off ceremony.

The DG highlighted the symbolic importance of launching this expedition from Kashmir’s iconic Lal Chowk, calling it a moment of “immense happiness, pride, and honour.”

“This high-altitude mission reflects the CRPF’s contribution to India’s internal security over the past sixty-six years,” he noted. Singh also expressed deep gratitude to the people gathered at Lal Chowk, particularly the local residents, whose presence and encouragement, he said, “strengthen our resolve to serve and protect.”

Carrying the National Flag and the CRPF’s powerful message—“Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak”—the bikers aim to spread a message of resilience, courage, and empowerment across the region.

Assistant Commandant Seema Nag, who is leading the rally, shared that the idea for such an expedition was first conceived in 2015, with two earlier successful rallies completed.

“This is our third and most challenging expedition so far,” said Nag. “We are ready to face all obstacles. There is always success after fear. We want to show that nothing is impossible for women.”

The participants spoke with pride about being part of this historic journey, determined to inspire women across India—especially in Jammu and Kashmir—to pursue their dreams, join the forces, and take on bold challenges.

“If we can do it, so can other girls,” said CRPF personnel Meenasha . “I urge parents to let their daughters explore life and follow their passions.”

“We want girls from Jammu & Kashmir to see this and feel inspired. We believe in the motto of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao—and now, Beti Bhi Badhao,” said another CRPF rider.
