Cross-border firing has ruined lives in Jammu and Kashmir: Deputy CM

Baramulla, Feb 17: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Monday said that the people have been facing hardships due to cross-border firing since 1947.

Speaking to the media during a review meeting, he acknowledged the pain and suffering caused by such incidents, emphasizing that civilians are always at the receiving end.

"We hope to see an end to this suffering and a future free from such hardships," he said.

Addressing concerns about illegal mining in Baramulla, the Deputy CM reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against such activities. He assured strict action against violators, stating that a special committee has been formed to tackle the issue effectively.

"Illegal mining will not be allowed, and the administration will take prompt action against those involved," he added.
