Jammu, May 31: Police Saturday booked a hardcore bovine smuggler in Samba under the Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) and lodged him in Central Jail Jammu, Kot Bhalwal.

“The hardcore bovine smuggler namely Shabir Shah, son of Bagh Hussain, resident of Sher Bibi Chamanvas tehsil Banihal, district Ramban at present Malani tehsil Rajpura district Samba has been booked under PSA after obtaining formal detention order from the District Magistrate Samba. The booked criminal has been subsequently lodged in Central Jail Jammu, Kot Bhalwal,” Police said.

The criminal, as per Police, was involved in multiple FIRs registered against him during the year 2021; 2022; 2024 and 2025 at Police Station Ghagwal and Police Station Samba for indulging in bovine smuggling.

The cases against accused included FIR No 35/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act; FIR No 73/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act; FIR No 26/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act; 3 PDPP, 50/52/54 Animal Transport Act 1978 and FIR No 24/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act, 3 PDPP, 50/52/54 Animal Transport Act 1978 – all registered at Police Station, Ghagwal and FIR No 300/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act of Police Station, Samba.

Police said that the repeated criminal and bovine smuggling activities of hardcore bovine smuggler Shabir Shah had posed a serious threat to public peace and tranquility in the area.
