Jammu, Nov 18: The Crime Branch has filed a charge sheet in the court of law for judicial determination against the accused for duping a former Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Army on the pretext of providing a government job to his daughter.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime, Jammu, Benam Tosh has confirmed that the charge sheet in case FIR No 15/2023 under Section 419/420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was filed in the court of law for judicial determination.

“A case FIR No 15/2023 was initially registered at Police Station CICE Jammu on the written complaint lodged by one former Subedar of Army namely Mohd Zahid, son of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Ujhan tehsil Darhal, district Rajouri against Bashir Ahmed Dar belonging to Budgam district,” SSP stated.

As per official details, the complainant had alleged in his complaint that on January 30, 2023, he received a phone call. “The caller introduced himself to be an officer of the J&K Service Selection Board and stated that he could manage a government job as a teacher for his (complainant’s) daughter and asked him to deposit money in his bank account and accordingly the complainant deposited hard earned money in the caller’s account,” it was mentioned in the complaint.

“Thereafter the accused also met the complainant and his daughter and told them that he was Secretary of J&K Service Selection Board and would adjust his daughter in the Education Department. But neither he managed a government job for the daughter of the complainant nor did he return the amount,” he said.

Subsequently, the investigation was transferred to EOW Jammu and during the further course of in-depth investigation and the Investigation Officer identified the caller to be a prematurely retired IRP official Sgct Bashir Ahmed Dar of district Budgam who had committed cheating by impersonation and duped retired JCO of heard earned money.

“The accused was arrested from Kashmir after a series of raids conducted at different places in Kashmir Valley in collaboration with the concerned district police. The investigation has been completed and the offences of cheating by impersonation and cheating for wrongful gain have been proved against him,” SSP Crime Jammu said.
