Srinagar, Sep 15: In a remarkable display of resilience, teamwork, and sheer determination, teams from Badamwari Athletes and Crampon Adventures successfully summited the formidable Main Peak of Mount Harmukh, standing tall at 5,070 metres, on September 14, 2025.

A statement said that the joint expedition brought together seven climbers—Sahil Qayoom, Zahid Rafiq Kota, Sohail Khan, Showkat Hamid Kashmiri, Mehraj Khan, Umar Khan, and Mohammad Umar—who undertook the arduous journey driven by discipline, passion, and unwavering willpower.

The expedition began on September 12 from Kudura Village, Bandipora, following Friday prayers. The team reached Sarbal by evening to set up their first camp. On September 13, under favourable weather, they advanced to the Advanced Base Camp (ABC) at 4,700 metres. Led by Sherpa Sahil Qayoom, with Zahid Kota guiding the middle pack and Mohammad Umar ensuring rear safety, the team navigated treacherous rocky patches with precision. Climbers Mehraj Khan and Showkat Hamid Kashmiri kept morale high, while Sohail Khan’s courage inspired all.

On September 14, the final summit push began at 6 a.m., culminating in the team reaching Mount Harmukh’s Main Peak at 9:30 a.m. Without any guide or porter support, they achieved this milestone safely, revelling in the breathtaking views. The descent concluded at Sarbal by 6 p.m., with special thanks to Mehraj Gami for logistical and communication support.

Zahid Kota expressed, “Harmukh demands more than physical endurance—it is a test of belief, collaboration, and fearlessness. By the grace of Allah, we overcame every challenge.” The expedition stands as a testament to the spirit, skill, and perseverance of Kashmiri mountaineers.
