Crackdown against traffic violations launched in Baramulla
Baramulla, Nov 26: The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Muazzam Ali, during a week long drive aimed to curb traffic violations, has suspended the driving licenses of 15 motorists. The crackdown aims to instill discipline on the roads and promote safer driving practices in the district.
ARTO Muazzam Ali and his team conducted a series of enforcement drives targeting rash and negligent driving. In addition to the 15 suspended licenses, show cause notices for the suspension of driving licenses and route permits were issued to 32 more offenders.
Moreover, 65 commercial vehicles were blacklisted for operating with expired fitness certificates.
"We want motorists to adhere to basic traffic rules for their safety and the safety of others on the road. Our objective is to instigate a sense of discipline among motorists in the district," said ARTO Muazzam Ali.
To achieve this, the authorities are invoking Section 184 (dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicle Act against violators engaged in practices such as wrong-side driving, using modified silencers, driving commercial vehicles without Speed Limiting Devices (SLDs), riding triple seat, and stunt riding, among other offences.
The ARTO has urged the public to exercise caution, avoid over-speeding, and strictly follow traffic rules while driving. The motorists have been reminded that adherence to traffic regulations is crucial for the well-being of all road users.
