CPI (M) slams Israeli minister’s visit to India

New Delhi, Sep 9: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday condemned the visit of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to India, where he led a delegation to sign a bilateral investment agreement with the government.

In a statement, the CPI(M) Polit Bureau described Smotrich as a leader of a “far-right racist party” and a key advocate of policies to forcibly displace Palestinians in Gaza and annex the West Bank.

The party noted that several countries, including the UK, Canada, Australia, Norway, the Netherlands, Slovenia and New Zealand, have barred his entry or imposed sanctions on him.
