CPI extends its support to National Conference

Shopian, May 9:  The J&K unit of Communist Party of India (CPI) on Thursday announced its decision to support National Conference (NC) in Lok Sabha elections.

A party spokesperson told Greater Kashmir that since both CPI and National Conference are part of the INDIA bloc, the party decided to extend its support to National Conference candidates contesting from three Lok Sabha constituencies in Kashmir.

He emphasised that supporting the National Conference candidates is crucial to keep BJP and its proxies out of parliament.

“It is important for all secular forces to unite and stand together to counter the communal and divisive agenda of BJP and its allies," said the spokesperson.

Castigating the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for terming Muslims as invaders, the CPI spokesperson said that the substantial support garnered by the INDIA bloc across the country unnerved the PM and BJP.

“Such statements not only reflect their utter frustration, but also lays bare BJP’s communal agenda,” added the spokesperson.
