Cop dies in Pampore, investigation taken up
Srinagar, Jan 23: A police personnel died under mysterious circumstances after being brought unconscious from Pampore to a hospital in Srinagar on Friday evening.
Police said it seems to be suspected cardiac arrest adding that they have started investigation.
Officials said Head Constable Surinder Sharma (53) of 23 Battalion Armed posted on guard duty Grid Station Pampore and a resident of Jammu, was found unconscious and initially shifted to the Sub-District Hospital Pampore. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for advanced treatment. However, despite the best efforts of doctors, he succumbed shortly after arrival. Preliminary reports suggest a suspected cardiac arrest, though the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Police have taken cognisance of the matter, and further investigation has been initiated.
