Construction worker killed in Ramban landslide incident

Ramban, Feb 22:  A worker of a construction company was killed in a landslide in the Seri area of Ramban along the Srinagar Jammu National Highway on Thursday.

Police officials said, “A worker at CPPL company headquarters in Seri Ramban came under a landslide. He was on his way to the mess of the company for breakfast when the incident occurred on Thursday morning.”

On getting information, the police and local volunteers rushed to the spot. They retrieved the body from the debris and shifted it to the mortuary of District Hospital Ramban.

Police identified the deceased construction worker as Desh Paul, 30, son of Randhira, resident of Muzaffar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

SHO Ramban, Inspector Vijay Kotwal, while confirming the incident, said that after conducting a postmortem and other legal formalities, the body of the deceased worker was sent to his native place in Uttar Pradesh.

“To ascertain the actual cause of his death, inquest proceedings under Sec 174 CrPC were initiated at Police Station Ramban,” he said.
