Srinagar, July 18: Former Minister Usman Majid on Thursday called upon the LG administration to grant age-relaxation to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for the JKSSB-notified Police Constable posts, given the high unemployment rate in the UT.

The youth have been waiting for these posts for nine years, and the application fee is excessively high, he said, in a statement.

Reducing the fee and relaxing the age limit are essential steps to provide fair employment opportunities and stability to the youth who have endured significant hardships, Majid said.

He said the high unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir has left many young people disheartened and struggling to find opportunities for a better future.

The announcement of the JKSSB Police Constable posts has brought a ray of hope to these aspiring candidates. However, the stringent age criteria and exorbitant application fees present significant barriers that hinder their ability to apply.

In light of these challenges, Majid said that it is imperative that the LG administration takes immediate action to address these issues. Granting age relaxation will allow a larger pool of eligible candidates to apply, ensuring that those who have patiently waited for these posts over the past nine years are not unfairly excluded. Furthermore, reducing the application fee will make the process more accessible to all candidates, regardless of their financial background, he added

Majid said that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir have endured considerable hardships and uncertainty, and it is our collective responsibility to provide them with the opportunities they deserve, he added.

“I urge the LG administration to act swiftly and favorably on this matter, as it will have a profound impact on the lives of many and contribute significantly to the overall development and progress of Jammu and Kashmir,” Majid added.
