Srinagar, Jan 05: Police in Srinagar have arrested a conman for duping an individual by falsely promising to secure the release of his brother from police custody.

The police in a handout said that Police Station Nowhatta received a written complaint from Showkat Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Zahid Pora, Hawal who alleged that Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh from Sheikh Colony Makhdoom Sahib had fraudulently taken Rs 30000 from him.

The handout reads that Sajad Sheikh was lawfully arrested under the said case. "However, Fayaz exploited the situation, luring the complainant into paying Rs 30,000 on the false pretense of influencing police proceedings," it reads.
