Congress takes out ‘Ambedkar Samman Yatra’
Jammu, Dec 24: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) leaders and activists along with party’s other frontal wings Tuesday took out “Ambedkar Samman March” here.
Senior Congress leaders of PCC, DCC and frontal wings participated in the march, taken out from Ambedkar Chowk towards Divisional Commissioner office, Jammu, as part of the nationwide call of the party.
Call for this march was given by the party to press for its demand of “resignation and public apology from the Union Home Minister” for his statement on the architect of the Constitution Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in the parliament a few days ago.
The police stopped the march just before the Div Com Office, when a representative of the administration received the memorandum addressed to the President of India through the Divisional Commissioner seeking action against the Union Home Minister.
JKPCC leaders supported the leadership to continue the struggle for seeking action against the Home Minister.
The march was organized by PCC and DCC Jammu Urban, led by working president Raman Bhalla. Thakur Balwan Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, DCC President Manmohan Singh, Ved Mahajan, Indu Pawar, Naresh Gupta, Yash Pal Kundal, Hari Singh Chib besides others participated in the march.
Earlier the Congress leaders garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar amid slogans.
