‘Congress’ stand on special status, Art 370 absolutely clear: Karra
Jammu, Nov 19: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra Tuesday reiterated that Congress’ stand on special status and Article 370 was absolutely clear and there was no need for further clarification on that account.
“We have already made our stand absolutely clear on this account. Congress does not need to give any explanation. I have nothing to add to my statements already given on this account,” he stated, while responding to media queries about his party’s stand on special status, Article 370 in the light of resolution recently passed in J&K Legislative Assembly.
His reference was to his earlier statements, wherein he (JKPCC President) clearly said that Congress had supported resolution seeking statehood, which was the only pending issue after the verdict by the Supreme Court on Article 370.
Karra was speaking to the media after paying tributes to the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary here in Jammu.
With regard to BJP’s repeated verbal assault against Congress leaders, including Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, JKPCC President said that their (BJP’s) theatrics, jingoistic, divisive politics were bound to fail.
