Congress pays tributes to Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary
Srinagar, Nov 19 : Srinagar District Congress Committee on Sunday remembered former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her 106 birth anniversary at party headquarters here and paid floral tributes to the iron lady of India, a press release said.
According to a press release, Congress leaders and workers paid floral tributes to the former prime minister while recollecting her supreme sacrifices and selfless services to the nation.
District Congress Committee, PCC Functionaries and other Congress leaders including frontal organisations led by DCC President Imtiyaz Khan participated in the function The speakers highlighted the great achievements and services rendered by Gandhi to the nation. They said that she was known for his vision and courage. “She left no stone unturned to make India a powerful nation be it the economic fronts, education, defense, communication and inclusive development of the people particularly poor and downtrodden. She even sacrificed her life for the nation but never compromised on its sovereignty,” the speakers said.
They added that the supreme sacrifices of Gandhi’s family for the nation is bound to inspire generations, they added and said those questioning the sacrifices of Gandhi’s family are not familiar with the Indian history, which is witness to the sacrifices and service of Nehru Gandhi family towards the nation.
