Jammu, Sep 10: Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur Tuesday stated that Congress and National Conference were staring at their defeat in J&K Assembly elections and that’s why they were focussing on non-issues to give vent to their frustration.

Thakur was responding to media queries as he accompanied BJP candidate from R S Pura South, Dr Narendra Singh Raina who filed his nomination papers today. “Omar Abdullah is remembering Afzal Guru, who attacked the Indian Parliament, as he (Omar) was staring at his defeat. Congress and NC are losing polls, that’s why they are pleading the cause of terrorists, stone-pelters to give vent to their frustration,” he said.

Earlier, Thakur and Raina led a road show of workers and supporters of BJP. Road show started from the BJP Mandal office in Gangyal. Raina filed his nomination at the Returning Officer's office at SDM RS Pura.

Speaking on the occasion, Thakur said that this time the BJP would form a government on its own in J&K, as the Modi government permanently ended the menace of separatism and terrorism by abrogating Article 370.

He said, “J&K is an integral part of India” and urged the party workers to carry PM Modi's revolutionary works to every household.

Thakur reminded everyone that BJP had promised the abrogation of Article 370, which it delivered, and assured that it would fulfill all future promises as well. Addressing the workers, Dr Raina said that Narendra Modi’s historic and revolutionary initiatives over the past decade restored peace in J&K. “The development here is going at a fast pace,” he said.
