Congress’ fact-finding team visits Reasi, Udhampur distts
Udhampur, Oct 27: The Congress fact-finding team, headed by JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Sunday visited district Reasi and Udhampur and interacted with party candidates, district and block functionaries besides leaders of frontal wings.
Fact-finding committee, also comprising Ved Mahajan, Jahangir Mir, Naresh Gupta and Dina Nath Bhagat, held detailed deliberations with the contesting candidates of the party, senior leaders and other functionaries and grass root leaders of the party to know about the reasons behind defeat of the party in assembly polls, despite large scale resentment against BJP over “unemployment, unprecedented price rise, heavy taxes and other anti people decisions of the Centre and LG administration.”
JKPCC workers appreciated the initiative of the party to constitute a fact-finding committee of senior leaders to reach out to the grass root party workers, all over the province. They shared their views and experiences of the elections and suggested a way forward for strengthening the organization and countering BJP's propaganda.
The workers expressed confidence that the party was still strong as compared to the last elections and could “emerge stronger and counter BJP, if corrective measures were taken as people had high hopes from the Congress party which was the only secular and democratic force in the region.”
They also highlighted the biased role of administration which they alleged “facilitated the distribution of ration, liquor and money etc to influence the voters.” BJP spent huge amounts on the campaign and elections to manage victory, they alleged.
