Srinagar, Sep 21: A condolence meeting was held today at Amar Singh Club Srinagar on the passing away of Mohammad Shafi Pandit( retd IAS) and former Chairman, J&K Public Services Commission.

This joint meeting of the Group of Concerned Citizens(GCC) and Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association(CGPWA) expresses its deep shock and sorrow at the sudden passing away of Mohammad Shafi Pandit.

The members recalled invaluable services rendered by him to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and people of the country during his various postings in Jammu and Kashmir Government and Central Government and as a social activist after retirement from government service. His contribution to the welfare of the government employees as Finance Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Government and pensioners in the capacity of President, CGPWA will be remembered for a long long time.

"We also pledge to take forward his legacy of service to the people, particularly to the poorer and downtrodden sections of the society. This joint meeting once again expresses its extreme sadness at the passing away of Jenab Mohammad Shafi Pandit Saheb and extends deep sympathy to the bereaved family members, friends and near and dear ones of Jenab Shafi Saheb. We the members of GCC and CGPWA pray to God to give strength to the bereaved family to bear this great loss. We also pray for Magfirat and Jannat-ul- Firdous to the late Jenab Mohammad Shafi Pandit Saheb," a statement said.
