Comprehensive Damage Assessment: Union Minister Nimuben Bambhaniya leads ground mission in Samba
Samba, Sep 12: Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya Friday led an extensive field mission to Samba district, personally supervising the massive relief and rehabilitation operations on the ground.
Notably, in the aftermath of unprecedented rainfall and devastating floods that have severely impacted multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has launched one of the largest and most coordinated disaster responses in recent history under the direct command and constant monitoring of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The high-level visit was marked by seamless political and administrative coordination, reflecting the government’s resolve to safeguard every affected citizen.
The Minister was accompanied by elected representatives including Surjit Singh Slathia, MLA Samba and Vikram Randhawa, MLA Bahu, along with Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ayushi Sudan and Senior Superintendent of Police, Virender Singh Manhas. Together, they formed a unified crisis management team operating under the central government’s battle-tested disaster protocols.
During her visit, Minister Bambhaniya conducted a detailed review of the extensive damage caused by the floods, which resulted in large-scale infrastructure destruction, severe agricultural losses, and the displacement of families.
She inspected critical landslide zones, emergency evacuation points, and disrupted connectivity corridors, ensuring real-time ground-level intelligence was transmitted directly to the Prime Minister’s crisis monitoring centre.
The Minister also engaged directly with flood-affected families, listening to their grievances and assuring them of immediate relief.
“Under Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, relief operations are being carried out on an absolute war footing,” she said. “Every national resource -financial, technical, and human - is being mobilized to protect and support our people.”
A significant highlight of her address was the role of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which deployed specialised survey teams to conduct in-depth and scientific damage assessments across the affected areas.
“This exercise will ensure precise evaluation of losses and fair compensation to all victims,” she said.
The Minister further mentioned the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir to personally review the situation, and his interaction with affected communities was a testament to the government’s meticulous monitoring of the ground realities.
Emphasising the government’s integrated approach, Minister Bambhaniya underlined that the Modi government’s response would go far beyond conventional disaster relief, instead establishing a multi-tiered, inter-ministerial command structure.
“Through this structure, central ministries, state departments, emergency services, and specialised agencies are working as one coordinated force, eliminating duplication and ensuring maximum impact in minimum time,” she said.
The central government has also initiated a two-pronged strategy: immediate humanitarian relief to meet urgent needs, and long-term climate-resilient reconstruction measures to prepare for the future. These include rebuilding infrastructure capable of withstanding extreme weather, introducing advanced early-warning systems, and implementing livelihood restoration programmes for affected communities.
Concluding her visit, the minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment, stating, “PM Modi’s India leaves no citizen behind in times of adversity. The immediate relief and long-term resilience measures being rolled out today represent not just a response to the present crisis, but also the foundation of a stronger, disaster-resilient Jammu and Kashmir of tomorrow.”
“Under the direct guidance of Prime Minister Modi and the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah, our efforts are rooted in compassion, precision, and national strength,” she said.
The Minister said that the unprecedented relief mission stood as a testament to the Modi government’s proactive crisis leadership, where swift decision-making, unlimited mobilization of resources, and people-centric governance converged to protect and empower every citizen during one of the region’s most severe natural calamities.
