Jammu, Dec 12: Chief Secretary AtalDulloo Tuesday called for completing all the projects of the Smart City Mission (SCM) in the twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu by their stipulated timelines without fail.

An official spokesman in a statement issued here said that taking appraisal of the operational preparedness of all the ongoing and completed projects of the SCM here in Srinagar and Jammu, the chief secretary called for completing all the projects of the mission by their stipulated timelines without any fail.

During this meeting, he asked for insights into the kind of facilities and projects to be made available under SCM at both Srinagar and Jammu.

Dulloo said that the facilities and infrastructure being raised under this mission should be maintained properly to reap benefits accruing from them continuously.

He told both the CEOs of Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) and Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) to look into raising assets that would make the operation and maintenance of such assets durable and long-lasting.

The chief secretary stressed working out a model after properly analysing the recurring expenditure to be made on such projects of public use.

He asked to find the resources that would sustain these projects for posterity.

Dulloo asked about the list of projects completed under the mission here at Srinagar and Jammu till now and ongoing ones with their anticipated dates of completion.

He enquired about the usage of the projects dedicated to the public and the pace of those under execution. The chief secretary advised them to coordinate with the divisional administration to seek earlier resolution of all the interdepartmental issues affecting their work.

He asked about the status of the work on the water transport project in Srinagar and Tawi Riverfront Development.

Dulloo called for the operationalisation of IT-based smart traffic management systems like ILTM and ITMS at the earliest.

He was informed by the Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), PrashantGoyal that the smart city projects were completed by sharing 50 percent revenue each by the Centre and the J&K government besides arranging funding through PPP and convergence modes.

He said that the smart city projects include the creation of many kiosks, VMDs, advertisement decks, commercial spaces, e-buses, parking areas, and public utilities that would fetch them revenue through ticketing.

Goyal said that the mission here was in the process of detailing out a plan to make the facilities and projects most beneficial and sustainable for the people of J&K for times to come.

Principal Secretary Finance and Commissioners of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) also attended the meeting.
