Srinagar, July 6: Former Minister and Additional General Secretary PDP Asiea Naqash has expressed her disappointment over the “lackadaisical approach of the authorities on repairing and blacktopping of main roads including interior in Srinagar City.”

In a statement, she said that there is an urgent need for completion of the road construction to alleviate the hardships faced by the community including its macademisation

Naqash said that a number of roads in Srinagar city are in a dilapidated condition. “The vehicular and pedestrian movement is affected adversely on these roads. These roads have potholes and cracks for the last several months causing lot of inconvenience to them. The residents have filled the potholes with stones and debris. Some vehicles suffer damage during their movement. The movement of pedestrians becomes more difficult after evening if the street lights are not functioning due to power curtailment in various areas. She said that failure of authorities to undertake repairs of dilapidated roads in the summer capital in taking heavy toll on commuters,” she said.

Asiea said that commuters, traders, students and residents continue to face inconvenience due to dilapidated roads and lackadaisical approach of the authorities. She further added that intermittent rains further exacerbate the situation, contributing to gridlock, and making travel around the city even more challenging due to the faulty drainage system.
