Community plantation, cleanliness drive organised under ‘Seva Pravas’ held in Budgam
Budgam, Sep 19: A community plantation and cleanliness drive was organised near the District Soil Conservation Office, Budgam, under the Sewa Prav initiative on Friday.
The programme was conducted under the instructions of District Officer, Soil and Water Conservation Department, Budgam, Riyaz Malik, and witnessed active participation from Zonal Officer Peerzada Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Nodal Officer Abdul Raheem Dar, along with several employees of the Budgam and Khag zones, said a press release.
The drive emphasised the importance of community plantation as a collective effort to protect the environment and promote sustainable living.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that trees are the backbone of our ecosystem – providing oxygen, improving air quality, preventing soil erosion, and helping combat climate change.
Participants underscored the multiple benefits of a plantation drive, such as environmental benefits, health benefits, economic benefits, social benefits, and future benefits.
The event also included a cleanliness campaign, reinforcing the message that protecting nature involves not only planting trees but also maintaining clean surroundings.
At the conclusion, participants collectively pledged to continue plantation efforts, nurture saplings, and promote environmental awareness.
The drive symbolised a strong step towards building a greener, cleaner, and healthier Budgam for future generations.
