Communal politics behind SMVDMC permission withdrawal: Sheikh Khursheed
Handwara, Jan 10: Awami Itehad Party senior leader and Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Langate Sheikh Khursheed Saturday alleged that because of the “communal politics” of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College was derecognised. "It was unfortunate that the students admitted to the institution were selected purely on merit, however, since most of them belonged to the Muslim community, certain communal forces could not digest this and allegedly pressured the authorities to derecognize the college," he claimed.
Khursheed was talking to media on the sidelines of one day workers convention held at Environmental Hall Handwara. "Mark my words, once the issue settles, the recognition of the college would be restored and that time, students from a specific community would be granted admission in the college," he said.
To a question on the reservation issue, MLA Langate said that in the last assembly session, he had moved a resolution which, according to him, was not allowed to be tabled.
