Communal harmony defining characteristic of J&K: Dr Farooq Abdullah
Jammu, Jan 6: National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that communal harmony has always been a defining characteristic of Jammu and Kashmir and “under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, the government will persist in its efforts to fortify this essential aspect of our society.”
According to a press release , he said this while participating in the Prakash Purab celebration of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj at Digyana Ashram Gurudwara in Jammu.
On this special occasion, Dr Farooq Abdullah visited the Gurudwara to pay his respects and honour Guru Ji. He praised Guru Ji's bravery in fighting for righteousness, compassion, and truth. Dr Farooq emphasised the importance of following in Guru Ji's footsteps, stating that the government led by Omar Abdullah is committed to improving the living standards of the Sikh community through significant investments in welfare programs.
“I assure you that the government will take all necessary administrative and legislative measures to safeguard the interests of the Sikh community,” the NC President said. He acknowledged the rich diversity of cultures and religions in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the vital role of the Sikh community within this colorful mosaic.
Dr Farooq extended his warmest wishes to the Sikh community on this occasion, expressing hope that the day would strengthen the bonds of friendship and harmony in the region.
