Committed to extend full support to investigations: Army
Srinagar, Dec 23: The Army on Saturday said that it was committed to extending full support and cooperation in the investigations of the killings of three civilians in Poonch.
“Terrorist initiated incident at Bafliaz in Poonch-Rajouri Sector (21/ 22 Dec 23). Search operations by the security forces are continuing in the area of operations after the incident of 21 Dec 23. Reports have been received regarding three civilian deaths in the area. The matter is under investigation. Indian Army stands committed to extending full support and cooperation in the conduct of investigations,” ADG PI -Indian Army posted on X.
Three persons were found dead under suspicious circumstances near the site of an ambush by terrorists on two Army vehicles at Dera Ki Gali in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district Saturday evening which left four soldiers dead and two injured on Friday.
The deceased were among nine persons picked up by the Army for questioning in connection with Thursday’s attack.
They have been identified as Safeer Hussain, 43, son of Mir Hussain, Muhammad Showket, 27, son of Nazir Hussain, and Muhammad Shabir, 32, son of Wali Muhammad, all residents of village Topi.
They died under mysterious circumstances.
There have been reports of protests against the killings and mobile internet was snapped in the area apprehending law and order situation.
