Commissioner Railways to conduct inspection of Katra-Reasi rail link on Jan 5, 6
Srinagar, Dec 20: Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India on Friday asked officials of Northern Railways to arrange movement of inspection carriage nominated for Commissioner of Railway Safety, Northern Circle, New Delhi for statutory inspection of Katra-Reasi rail section in connection with Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line project.
The Ministry held that during the inspection the CAO/USBRL, CBE, CSE, COM-G, CEGE from HQ, DRM/FZR and BOs shall accompany the Commissioner Railway Safety.
Pertinently the long-awaited Srinagar-New Delhi rail link, a monumental infrastructure project spanning over two decades, is set to become a reality. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the final 17-km section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project on January 26, 2025. This section, connecting Reasi to Katra, will complete the 272-km railway line, bringing the much-anticipated Vande Bharat train service between New Delhi and Srinagar to life.
